研究成果	主要從事過(guò)去全球變化方向沙漠形成和演化研究，對(duì)我國(guó)西北主要沙漠的形成和演化歷史有深入的了解，負(fù)責(zé)組織和實(shí)施了“中國(guó)沙漠鉆探計(jì)劃”WEDP01鉆孔的野外巖心鉆探、年代學(xué)、沉積學(xué)、古環(huán)境代用指標(biāo)的測(cè)試和分析。對(duì)騰格里沙漠的形成給出了確切的年代，成果發(fā)表在Quaternary Science Reviews雜志上。
